The choice of subjects to be studied is made by mutual agreement between student and supervisor, taking into account the student's work plan. Elective subjects are offered upon demand by students and advisors.

The list, classes timetable and subjects offered in a given academic period can be checked on the PROPG website.

Supervised Teaching Internship

The Master's student must carry out a teaching internship for at least one academic period. The Doctoral student must carry out a teaching internship for at least two academic periods.
Each internship period corresponds to taking one of the following subjects:
FIS-801 - Supervised Teaching Internship I (2 credits)
FIS-802 - Supervised Teaching Internship II (2 credits)

add_alertWithin a maximum period of 7 (seven) days after the conclusion of the Teaching Internship activity, the student must turn in the  signed "Form - Work Plan and Final Report" (PT-BR). The form is available at: Formulários e Modelos para Download

Registration

Master's and doctoral students must register in every academic quarter. After attending all mandatory and elective courses, students must enroll in Partial Thesis Preparation.

add_alertATTENTION: Failure to register every quadrimester in the online system, within the indicated period, implies automatic termination of the master's/doctoral course. Keep an eye on the academic calendar at: http://propg.ufabc.edu.br/matriculas/

The UFABC Graduate Student Manual with general guidelines can be consulted at: Manual do Estudante (PDF, PT-BR)

Master's Course Details

To obtain the Title of Master the candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:

doneComplete 78 credits in subjects. Typically pass the 4 mandatory subjects of the master's degree, in addition to 2 elective subjects, totaling 6 subjects. Courses taken at UFABC as a special student or at another institution can be used. Pay attention to the subject load, if you take or ask for one with less than 12 credits, the number of subjects may vary.

doneConduct at least one academic period of teaching internship.

donePass the Master's Qualifying Exam, which must take place until the eighteenth month of the course (18 months).

doneBe approved by the Examining Board of the Master's Dissertation, whose defense should take place until the twenty-fourth month of the course (24 months)*.

Doctoral Course Details

To obtain the Doctorate Title, the candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:

doneComplete 114 credits in subjects. Typically be approved in the 4 compulsory subjects of the master's degree and in 1 compulsory advanced in the doctorate, in addition to 4 elective courses (2 in the master's and 2 in the doctorate), totaling 9 subjects. The master's courses taken at UFABC or another institution can be used in the doctorate. Pay attention to the subject load, if you take or request to take advantage of one with less than 12 credits, the total number of subjects may vary.

doneConduct at least two academic periods of teaching internship. Internships carried out in the master's degree at UFABC or in another institution can be used in the doctorate.

donePass the Doctoral Qualification Exam, that must occur until the thirtieth month of the course (30 months). Ideally, we recommend that the doctoral qualification exam be taken in the twenty-fourth month of the course (24 months).

donePass an English language proficiency exam.

doneHave at least one article published/accepted in a journal with selective editorial policy. When scheduling the doctoral thesis defense board, the student must send, by email to the course coordinator, the list of published, accepted and submitted articles during the doctorate.

doneBe approved by the Examining Board of the Doctoral Thesis, whose defense should take place until the forty-eighth month of the course (48 months). The doctoral thesis must contain original results that advance scientific and/or technological knowledge in a particular area of Physics.*

add_alert* The maximum regimental period for the completion of the master's degree is 30 months and the doctorate is 60 months. After this period, the student is disconnected from the program..
