Roberto Menezes Serra

Doutor em Física, Universidade Federal de São Carlos (2002)


Obteve o Doutorado em Física na UFSCar em 2002. Realizou estágio de pesquisa de Pós-Doutorado no Imperial College London (UK) entre 2003 e 2004. Foi membro associado do "The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics" - ICTP (Itália) entre 2005 e 2010. É professor da Universidade Federal do ABC (UFABC) desde de 2006, onde fundou e coordenou o Programa de Pós-Graduação em Física, entre 2007 e 2010. Foi Vice Pró-Reitor de Pós-Graduação da UFABC entre 2010 e 2014. Em 2015 tornou-se também "Newton Advanced Fellow" da Royal Society (UK) junto a Universidade de York (UK). Suas linhas de pesquisa são diversificadas e abrangentes, incorporando tanto aspectos teóricos quanto experimentais em Ciência da Informação Quântica. Está rotineiramente envolvido com o desafio de implementar novas ideias teóricas e abstratas em um cenário experimental e palpável. Dr. Serra obtained his PhD from UFSCar (2002) and he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Imperial College London (England) in 2004. He was an associate member of "The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics" (ICTP, Italy) from 2005 to 2010. He is a professor at the University Federal of ABC (UFABC) since 2006, where he founded and coordinated the Graduate Program in Physics between 2007 and 2010. He was Vice-Dean of Graduate UFABC from 2010 to 2014. In 2015 he became Royal Society Newton Advanced Fellow at University of York (UK). His research areas are diverse and comprehensive incorporating both theoretical and experimental Quantum Information Science. He is often involved with the exciting challenge of implementing new theoretical and abstract ideas in an experimental setting.
